Tomato Celebration

Saturday, July 22, 2006

Michael picked our first Brandywine tomato today. We celebrated by having tomato sandwiches for lunch. He used toasted multigrain bread and fresh mozzarella cheese, good olive oil, salt and pepper, fresh basil, and those wonderful slices of tomato -- still warm from the sun. We've been waiting for this moment for months!

MMmmmm. Tomatoes don't get any better than this.

I want that sandwich right away! Delicious! Thanks for visiting my blog. It looks like we have started blogging at the same time (Jan 2006). I've picked some tomatoes too. I have two kinds of: very small ones (we call them cherry tomatoes) and then yellow ones (which are still green)

Looks like you have some chives in that yummy sandwich . . .

I just picked my first tomatoes for the year, Golden Jubilees - haven't eaten them yet - they are going in tonights salad . . .

Christa, this is Kyle (Mike's friend). I just wanted to chime in and say that I love this photo (and the whole blog).

Hey, Kyle. Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the blog. (And no, Mike did *not* make me do this.) :-)

I'd be happy to be your food photographer when you guys do your cookbook.

I hear a few people at the office have been putting in their requests for tomato sandwiches. We will try to accomodate... soon!
