...Watermelon!

They're only thumb-size right now but I'm sure they'll plump up soon enough. Aren't they the cutest little watermelons you've ever seen? Happy Summer!

They're great! I wonder if they'd grow over here? I don't know anyone whose tried - probably need a polytunnel. When will they be ready to harvest?
Do you buy the seed or plant seed you've saved from a bought watermelon?

I'm sorry, but there is not much cuter than baby veggies and fruit. Those tiny stripes are adorable. Who knew that baby food would be so appealing?

I can almost taste that watermelon. Nothing like it in the heat of the summer.

Very, very cute. Oh, I just love baby melons.

How in the heck do you keep your fingernails so clean?

All,
Thanks for stopping by and enjoying the watermelon cuteness with me. More veggie babies coming soon...

Magic Cochin,
I think they should be ready to harvest in August, maybe. I planted these from seeds I saved from a watermelon I grew last year (from store-bought seeds).

Colleen,
A game of (meme) tag for the first day of summer? I'm in!

Christina,
LOL! I usually take my photos BEFORE I start on my gardening work. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'd get dirt in the camera lenses. You should see my nails on Sunday evening after a weekend of gardening. Oy. Ouch.

Wow, so cool to see a whole watermelon barely bigger than a watermelon seed. Nature awes me every year - it's friggin' amazing to see the fruit of your labor come from a seed or seedling. Personally, growing my own stuff makes me feel connected to my food in a major way.

Oh oh oh! My watermelons are just starting to have flowers too, and I can see the tiniest watermelon ovaries. Very cute.

Those are great! I think our climate is too short and cool for them - so sad. More startling though is that you have great fingernails for a gardener! I you've already had one comment about that - but that was was first struck me about your photo!

They are SO adorable!! Mine only have blossoms at this point. My mouth is watering already, just thinking about eating some in a couple of months!

AAwwhhh. They're so cute!!! (Did you need a 15th comment saying this?) By the way my camera lens looks like my finger nails, always a little dirty.
