This is something, isn't it?
My garden looks like early April, here in Maine.

Oh, Cherry Blossoms in January? Well, to be honest, I am not at all familiar with the weather conditions in Washington. But that's not at all normal to see these pretty little flowers this early, isn't it?

I am posting more frosty photos of my garden for today's Green Thumb Sunday. Unfortunatly, he GTS blogroll does not show that my blog has been updated... ;-((

What happens in the spring when tourists start coming to Washington for the cherry blossom festivals?

Wow, that certainly is something. In January... Well, we have an unusual warm winter over here in Sweden too, but not that warm :-)

Wow... amazing, the signs of spring that we're seeing everywhere. Here, we are set to receive real winter temperatures over the next two weeks. It will be interesting to see how these early bloomers and early sprouters fare.

Lovely shades of pink. Great capture! I did not know they were blooming still!

I think these blossoms are on an autumn-flowering cherry tree (Prunus subhirtella), and it is supposedly normal for them to bloom around January/February. But I don't recall ever seeing them bloom this early!

The trees around Washigton D.C.'s Tidal Basin (the ones that are the big attraction for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival) are a different variety. They are due to bloom around the end of March/early April. I wonder if they will bloom early this year?
